"The Bronx from Within" is a collection of photographic images by Argenis Apolinario.  Works include images taken in the Bronx of people, places, and moments which have personal value and describe Argenis' aesthetic process.  When photographing objects and spaces, he looks for contrasting details, such as color and scale, density and simplicity, hidden details, suggesting the hand or presence of an external force.  He decides to focus on the Bronx in series because "being" from the Bronx has shaped who he is.  Argenis seeks moments of silence, deep contemplation and details that suggest being within and outer simultaneously.

Argenis Apolinario is from the Bronx, of Puerto Rican/Dominican descent. He studied photography at Cooper Union.  He works as a professional photographer, focusing on studio photography, portraiture, event photography, art making and photojournalism.  Argenis often considers human relationships, moments of contemplative isolation, light, color and geometry when practicing his craft.
