The title of this exhibition is derived from a line of the song Triunfamos by Los Panchos. Del cuento, ya no hay nada que contar (Of this short story, there is nothing more to tell) transforms AAA3A into a mythological and ornate, but familiar living room space that honors and cherishes the simplicity of love and family. Featuring lavishly decorated image transfers of Miranda's family on Café Bustelo, the work showcases intimate moments of affection, celebration and the togetherness of family. Although much of Miranda's work is rooted in the complexities of their grandparents' journey in America, the loss of their grandfather and their own diasporic experiences, here they wished to make joy, hope and tenderness the focus. In short, the artist states, "My grandparents loved each other and of their short story, there is nothing more to tell."
Katherine Miranda (they/he) is a non-binary, Bronx born and based multidisciplinary artist. Interested in the innate way familial and communal stories are connected to ancestral lineages; Miranda's artistic practice is one that is deeply rooted in the idea that our histories hold both value and power. Using discarded objects, most notably Café Bustelo, they create work that acts as an homage to their family, community and ancestry. Miranda has been awarded several fellowships including Create Change with The Laundromat Project (2023), the AIM Fellowship with The Bronx Museum of the Arts (2022) and the Van Lier Fellowship with Wave Hill (2021). They are currently an Artist-in-Residence at Governors Island.
