The upcoming exhibition at AAA3A, consists entirely of black and white drawings by Hilario Alonso and chromatically masterful works by Korce. Since Hilario and Korce live in New York, they have access to various cultural perspectives, ranging from the street to the sophisticated and they reveal this clearly in their work.
DIBUJOS Y GARABATOS, drawings and doodles, for the first time brings together the artwork created by these two talented Mexican artists. Korce's work is greatly inspired by his culture, while Hilario's is based on everyday life. They draw, paint and tattoo for private collectors. The artists are obsessive gatherers of both ideas and images that they later incorporate in their works and they clearly separate their art-making from their tattooing.
Deciphering the imagery in their work is not simple but there is an undeniable relationship between them despite their different styles. In their seamless coming together of global and local culture and high and low art you will not leave without being touched by their amazing artistry, something that only many years of dedication and commitment to their craft, drawing and doodling, can bring forth.
Hilario Alonso is originally from the state of Puebla and Korce from the neighboring state of Toluca. They met in the New York City subway many, many years ago and have remained friends ever since.
