Julio's dream of becoming an artist was something never forgotten.  Throughout his career, his one hobby was always his first love, working with oils and canvas, paying homage to his beloved Caribbean culture.

Julio H. Rodriguez, was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico.  When he arrived in New York City, he dreamed of becoming an artist, never expecting to find such joy in the kitchen and the art of cooking.  After graduating from high school, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was offered two choices in training: laundry or commissary, he opted for the latter.  Julio quickly began his culinary training at the Newport Military Academy in Rhode Island for six months.  That tour of duty turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as he found that he could use his knowledge of the arts and apply them to creating beautiful dishes.  After completing his tour with the Navy, he literally cooked his way through New York City, culminating in a career teaching Culinary Arts that he still enjoys today.

In 2014, Julio was one of the winners of Fairway's competition, "Best Griller of The Bronx."  He has also published to two cook-books, pursues his love of the arts by painting during his spare time; and continues to lovingly prepare meals for his wife Dolores, their family, and the many guests that look forward to a special invitation to their home.

For his very special show at AAA3A, artist Julio Rodriguez will grace our walls with his wonderful paintings of roosters, masks and palm trees.  Join us!
