Taking It Day by Day brings together photographs of daily epiphanies and instances of wonderment that I’ve been fortunate enough to experience and capture over a four year period on the streets of New York City, Los Angeles and Costa Rica.
I came to photography by way of object based design and installation art. I substituted the insularity of my previous studio practice, while dismissing the vagaries and pretensions of the art world industrial complex for a more honest and vastly more personal engagement with my city and the world at large. It was my good fortune to be born and raised in Spanish Harlem in 1960. I attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn from 1978-1982 on a scholarship. Thankfully I still reside in New York City, alive, engaged and photographing daily.
